Answer: Possibly, but modifications can change the price or make a car unacceptable to a particular telematics insurer.
Ask before modifying, not afterwards
If you already have a telematics policy, check how the proposed change will be treated before paying for the work. A modification that seems cosmetic to the owner may still require disclosure or push the car outside that insurer’s acceptance rules.
Telematics does not make modifications irrelevant
A black box can describe how the car is driven, but the insurer still cares what car it is insuring. Engine tuning, suspension changes, non-standard wheels and body modifications can alter performance, repair cost or theft risk.
